By Mark Russell

The idea of a Flintstones comic reboot from DC comics sounded like a cheap and lazy cash-grab. So imagine my surprise when it ended up being one of the most fun, relevant, and clever comics around! Writer Mark Russell keeps the setting of Bedrock and all of the characters, but opts for social satire rather than domestic comedy. Issues like consumerism, religion, and even marriage equality are all given a hilarious stone-age spin. Russell also deserves credit for taking Fred and Wilma from one-dimensional sitcom archetypes and making them into multi-faceted characters that you care for and understand. The artwork is great as well, giving us great character designs and the most detailed Bedrock we’ve ever seen. If you’re looking for a smart and worthwhile series, this is it!
