By Bill Schutt

Never has something this grizzly been so interesting! Zoologist Bill Schutt explores cannibalism from all perspectives- from spiders and tadpoles that eat their own offspring, to new mothers that eat their own placenta. Schutt goes beyond shock value and delves into why cannibalism is such a taboo topic, why it continues to fascinate us, and why it happens in the first place. What could have been a lurid, gory book is actually an informative, even funny read. Be prepared to learn something new- just be sure you don’t have a full stomach!

And yes, the Donner Party is discussed in the chapter “Worst party ever.” You can’t claim Schutt doesn’t have a sense of humor!
