In the latest installment of this great cozy mystery series by Cleo Coyle, we find again Claire Cosi, roast master extraordinaire and half partner alongside her ex-husband Mateo Allegro of the “Village Blend” in Manhattan, New York.
Claire’s coffeehouse has been invited to participate in the Central Park festival amid all the Fairy Tale themes that the city has been developing such as Red Riding Hood the musical. In order to get along with the theme, Claire has given her food truck a make over to look like Jack and the Beanstalk.
On the day of the festival, Matt, Claire’s ex husband is asked to sub for a missing prince and he will be paired with Pink, the princess played by sweet Anya ( the sometimes nanny to the children of Claire’s boyfriend). But when Anya disappears and found later unconscious in the rough woods of Central Park, Clare has to fight to find the killer because the police has zeroed in her ex-husband.
I like the book because it mixes the Fairy tale theme with the crude reality surrounding the characters , this including high-end escort services, immigration struggles and corruption.
