Jon Ronsonby Jon Ronson

Another great read by Jon Ronson. This time Ronson delves headlong into public shaming. With his signature anxious, humorous and ponderous style, he explores the resurgence of public shame in the age of the internet. Ronson doesn’t only look at cases of public shaming, but also tries to get to the heart of what our society deems shame-worthy as well as how some people seem impervious to shame. He has some interesting details on public shamings of old, and of course, draws haunting similarities to today’s shamings. Ronson gives context to life destroying tweets and facebook posts that will leave anyone with the fear that they could, unknowingly, make a similar transgression. Great stuff from one of my favorite nonfiction authors
