Why read? It’s the way, way future and all that remains of America is crumbling cities and roads. If you like post-apocalyptic fiction, this is an interesting, if somewhat unsatisfying contender. Chaka, a young woman from the new, simple society that was Chicago has been given a valuable copy of a Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court. After the death of her brother who disappeared searching for the elusive Haven, Chaka sets out with an expedition to find Haven and the keys to the mysterious Roadmakers. Atmospheric, but 1-dimensional characters. Some surprises, though, that make this a worthwhile read.
